Fall in the Shenandoah Valley means fall colors, vineyard hopping and the Autumn Toast 5K at Barren Ridge Vineyards! The Autumn Toast 5K is a fun and unique fall evening race in the Shenandoah Valley that began in 2010! The out-and-back 3.1 mile course starts and finishes at the vineyard and comes with spectacular mountain views, a performance race shirt, a commemorative wine glass and a post-race party with wine samplings and live music. Acoustic music will delight the ears and delectable wines will tempt the pallet, so grab a date, your spouse or a friend and have them tag along with you for a great evening run, or have them meet you at the finish for a swirl, a sniff and a sip.
Better yet...make it a getaway weekend of fun. From historic tours to area wineries and microbreweries, to hiking and rock climbing, the area has something for everyone! Barren Ridge Vineyards is close to Staunton, Crozet, Waynesboro and just minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive! Fishersville is an hour from Richmond and two hours from DC.
Spectacular mountain views, a performance gender-specific tech tee, a commemorative wine glass and a post-race party with wine samplings from Barren Ridge Vineyards' fantastic wines. There will be music, food and iced tea available for purchase from McAlister’s Deli. Details about pre-ordering your personalized post-race picnic basket will be posted and emailed closer to race day.

The out and back 3.1 mile route will start and end in the vineyards at Barren Ridge Vineyards, located in Fishersville, Virginia, just a short drive off of route 250. The primary surface is hard pack gravel with a few sections of asphalt. The course is mostly flat and is walker-friendly with a water stop at the halfway mark. Runners and walkers will start in the vineyards, exit the winery and go left, cross St. James Road, continue for about 1.5 miles, turn around and re-trace their steps to a downhill finish.

Division Winners (8-11, 12-15, 16-20) - 1st place winners will receive a bottle of sparkling cider.
Division Winners (21-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & over) - 1st place winners get a bottle wine from Barren Ridge Vineyards.
Post Race Party…it’s more than just a run!
If you are you a runner with a drinking problem or a drinker with a running problem….don’t worry, this race is designed for both of your vices. Barren Ridge Vineyards experienced staff will be on hand to share with you their passion for their delectable vintages. New this year will be a wine purchasing station for those of you that have already decided your favorite spirit for the evening. You must be at least 21 years old to partake in the wine tastings so please bring proper ID. Food will be available for purchase prior to race day (details to come) so that you can stay and play (and catch a beautiful sunset!) after your race. Rounding out the evening will be the soulful sounds of Chris & Goose. So grab some friends, a picnic blanket and join us for a remarkable evening run!
Wine Tastings & Guest Info
In order for YOU or YOUR guests to sample wine you must be over 21 and present the proper form of identification. Wine will be available for purchase. Barren Ridge Vineyards invites you to come out before the race for a wine tasting. Pick your favorite and pre-order it before race day and it will be ready for you at the post-race party...no lines to wait in! Details on how to do this will be emailed to all registrants before race day.
Autumn Toast 5K guests that would like a wine tasting may do so for $5.00. The tasting includes two reds, two whites and a tasting glass to keep. Tickets may be purchased for your guests when you register.
Packet pick-up will be at Barren Ridge Vineyards from 4:30 pm - 5:45pm (date TBD). Race will start promptly at 6:00 PM.
